In the December edition of PROMO Food Service, you'll find the finest selection of ingredients for your festive menu—perfect for Christmas feasts or New Year’s celebrations. We invited PROMO Food Service customers at Masterclass to participate in a blind test to determine the best Smackers cakes. A total of 24 people took part, helping us discover which cakes made the biggest impression.

 

We evaluated two key criteria:

·           Taste and aroma

·           Texture and consistency

 

A typical blind test scenario was set up: six different cakes were displayed without revealing their names. Each cake was labeled with a number known only to the organizers. To ensure objectivity, participants were asked to taste and rate each cake based on specific criteria.

The six cakes tested were:

·           Lime Cake (C061342)

·           Brownie Cake (C061343)

·           New York Cheesecake (C061344)

·           Red Velvet Cake (C061345)

·           Carrot Cake, lactose- and gluten-free (C061770)

·           Vegan Raspberry-Chocolate Raw Cake with Peanuts (FG00018)

 

Results Based on the Opinions of 24 Participants:

 

1. Winner: Vegan Raspberry-Chocolate Raw Cake with Peanuts (FG00018)

• Average rating for taste and aroma: 4.57
• Average rating for texture and consistency: 4.5
• Overall average rating: 4.53

 

2. Second Place: Carrot Cake, lactose- and gluten-free (C061770)

• Average rating for taste and aroma: 4.28
• Average rating for texture and consistency: 4.42
• Overall average rating: 4.35

 

3. Third Place: New York Cheesecake (C061344)

• Average rating for taste and aroma: 4.28
• Average rating for texture and consistency: 4.35
• Overall average rating: 4.32

 

Conclusion:
